We introduce you our wonderful team of tango DJs.
DJ Roque Castellano (AR)
Since 2006, he has been sharing his unique and refined approach to dance and music throughout Europe. A dancer of Argentine tango and folklore, art has always been a part of his life from a very early age. Beyond his professional talent as a dancer, he also contributed his vast musical knowledge to find and offer the harmony that stood out in the greatest tango composers who captured and popularized the musical art for dancing on the dance floor.
His interpretation and selection of tango music invites us to embrace history, the present, and the future.
DJ at the Opening Milonga, Fri 12.9. 20-00 h (La Fábrica)

DJ Sonja Örndahl (FI)
Sonja started dancing tango in Buenos Aires in 2012 and she immediately fell in love with the music and the poetry of tango lyrics. She has been DJing regularly in Helsinki since 2020 in both weekly milongas and events such as Tango Frostbite Festival, Helsinki Milonga Weekend and Midsummer Tango marathon.
Bringing the spirit of Buenos Aires to the floor, Sonja crafts tandas with heart, depth, and energy. With a deep love for the golden age orchestras and a sensitivity to the dancers’ mood, she creates a musical journey that invites connection, emotion, and elegance.
DJ at the Day Milonga, Sat 13.9. 13-17.30 h (Rakelandia, Uotsala-sali)

DJ Jani Keinänen (FI)
I started dancing in 2000 in the USA with competitive dancing, but I quickly moved on to tango. Since 2012 I have been dancing and working from Helsinki on the board of the Amigos del Tango Association, organizing and implementing events, and playing music all over Europe. Basically, my taste in music is golden age, but when I play Alternative, I play in tandas and choose songs in the same style for each tanda.
DJ at the Alternative Day Milonga, Sat 13.9. 13-17.30 h (Rakelandia, Uotsala-sali)

DJ Bernt Drange (NO/FI)
Bernt started putting music in Bergen in 2007, back when you could qualify as a capable DJ if you were able to select music that was slighly better than the the CDs with ready tandas that they normally used at the milongas. Seeing how important the music was for the atmosphere and the enjoyment the dancers present showed when the music choices were good he got inspired to continue developing as a DJ. From 2013 Bernt has been based in Finland and highly appreciates every opportunity to bring music to Tampere.
Most of Bernt’s musical selection is from the Golden Age of tango, with extra attention music by the ”big four”: Troilo, Di Sarli, Pugliese and D’Arienzo – and as the evening progresses and the atmosphere needs it he doesn’t hesitate to mix in something else – as long as it is great for dancing.
DJ at the Evening Milonga and Show by Roque & Giselle, Sat 13.9. 19-01 h (Suomalainen Klubi)

DJ Jaana Hänninen (FI)
Is one of the oldest and most experienced DJs in Finland.
She started playing music at milongas around 2006, mainly at milongas around Finland, but also internationally. She plays traditional music from the late 20-ies to mid-50-ies in classical tandas, trying also to give special attention to the cortinas.
Jaana sees the milonga as an event where people come together to dance but also to socialize. Her aim is to build her set to be rewarding for the dancers and to grow more intensive towards the end of the milonga. She enjoys DJing most when she feels that the communication with the dancers works and the atmosphere is good.
DJ at the Milonga Verde, Sun 14.9. 12-15 h (Rakelandia, Häijää-sali)

DJ Svetlana Popović (RS)
”Svetlana started dancing tango more than 15 years ago and immediately fell in love with tango music. Through the challenging and rewarding path of discovering her own favorite style of tango dance and preferred tango music , she has come to appreciate the traditional tango the most. The importance of each orchestra in the development of later styles makes the choice between different classic orchestras both fun and challenging.
Svetlana’s Djing career started more than 9 years ago. At first, she tried her hand at local milongas and practicas, and proceeded to play tango music in Finland, United Arab Emirates, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Buenos Aires, etc. Her music was lifting tango dancers to the dance floor at numerous tango events, festivals, marathons and tango camps.”
DJ at the Day Milonga, Sun 14.9. 13-17.30 (Rakelandia, Uotsala-sali)

DJ Meeri Friman (FI)
DJ at the Closing Milonga, Sun 14.9. 18-22 (Telakka)
